I just started a new free Substack newsletter in 2024, with the aim of making data concepts more relatable to a broader, non-technical audience. The newsletter will mainly cover my perspectives gained from my unusual path through the data industry. I graduated with a social science degree in Economics (Masters) in 2012, where I fell in love with data after spending a year analysing how our Singapore subway line construction affected neighbouring housing prices.

Since then, I have worked across different industries as the data guy, ranging from analytics involving academic research surveys, Internet of Things (IoTs), urban planning, digital and growth marketing, fraud detection and product analytics. These experiences got me to speak about data to professions such as architects, urban planners, statisticians, digital marketers, growth marketers, risk analysts and policy makers, just a name a few. And I often had to work with engineers and fellow data professionals to build up the data solutions across these different domains.

Currently, in my role as an analytics consultant and data strategist, I work with different business owners and startup founders to get them to think more critically about how their organisation can turn their data into a sustainable form of competitive advantage.

Whether you are a business owner wanting to learn more about data and data strategies, or a non-technical professional who wants to think more critically about data in your team and organisation, consider subscribing to my Substack newsletter to see how it can help inspire you with some different perceptions on data.

In the meantime, I will still use my current Medium to focus other topics in my life. Do stay tuned!
